Beltane

May 1st

Sunset to Sunset.

Beltane honours Life. It represents the peak of Spring and the beginning of Summer. Earth energies are at their strongest and most active. All of life is bursting with potent fertility and at this point in the Wheel of the Year, the potential becomes conception. On May Eve the sexuality of life and the earth is at its peak. Abundant fertility, on all levels, is the central theme. The Maiden goddess has reached her fullness. She is the manifestation of growth and renewal, Flora, the Goddess of Spring, the May Queen, the May Bride. The Young Oak King, as Jack-In-The-Green, as the Green Man, falls in love with her and wins her hand. The union is consummated and the May Queen becomes pregnant. Together the May Queen and the May King are symbols of the Sacred Marriage , the union of Earth and Sky, and this union has merrily been re-enacted by humans throughout the centuries. For this is the night of the Greenwood Marriage. It is about sexuality and sensuality, passion, vitality and joy. And about conception. A brilliant moment in the Wheel of the Year to bring ideas, hopes and dreams into action.
Beltane is a Fire Festival. The word 'Beltane' originates from the Celtic God 'Bel', meaning 'the bright one' and the Gaelic word 'teine' meaning fire. Together they make 'Bright Fire', or 'Goodly Fire' and traditionally bonfires were lit to honour the Sun and encourage the support of Bel and the Sun's light to nurture the emerging future harvest and protect the community. Bel had to be won over through human effort. Traditionally all fires in the community were put out and a special fire was kindled for Beltane. "This was the Tein-eigen, the need fire. People jumped the fire to purify, cleanse and to bring fertility. Couples jumped the fire together to pledge themselves to each other. Cattle and other animals were driven through the smoke as a protection from disease and to bring fertility. At the end of the evening, the villagers would take some of the Teineigen to start their fires anew." (From Sacred Celebrations by Glennie Kindred) Green Man - Beltane
As Beltane is the Great Wedding of the Goddess and the God, it is a popular time for pagan weddings or Handfastings, a traditional betrothal for 'a year and a day' after which the couple would either choose to stay together or part without recrimination. Today, the length of commitment is a matter of choice for the couple, and can often be for life. Handfasting ceremonies are often unique to the couple, but include common elements, most importantly the exchange of vows and rings (or a token of their choice). The act of handfasting always involves tying the hands Handfasting ('tying the knot') of the two people involved, in a figure of eight, at some point in the ceremony and later unbinding. This is done with a red cord or ribbon. Tying the hands together symbolises that the two people have come together and the untying means that they remain together of their own free will.

Another common element is 'jumping the broomstick' - this goes back to a time when two people who could not afford a church ceremony, or want one, would be accepted in the community as a married couple if they literally jumped over a broom laid on the floor. The broom marked a 'threshold', moving from an old life to a new one.
The Maypole is a popular and familiar image of May Day and Beltane. A phallic pole, often made from birch, was inserted into the Earth representing the potency of the God. The ring of flowers at the top of the Maypole represents the fertile Goddess. Its many colored ribbons and the ensuing weaving dance symbolise the spiral of Life and the union of the Goddess and God, the union between Earth and Sky.

The colors of Beltane are green, red and white/silver. Green represents growth, abundance and fertility. Red represents strength, vitality, passion and vibrancy. White represents cleansing and clearing and the power to disperse negativity.http://www.goddessandgreenman.co.uk/beltane

Cellulitis and Breakdown

Merry Meet All,
I have been out of the loop for a month and a half due to getting cellulitis, if you don't know what that is, it's a skin infection caused by Staph, you know those little nasty bacteria creatures living on our bodies?  On April 7th my cat's claw punctured my leg and I did the usual, clean it out, put bandage on it, the next day I started running a fever of 103 felt like I had the flu, I woke up on the 9th to my leg being all red from the ankle to just below my knee, I googled, yep I know, and It came up with the symptoms of cellulitis, well off to the Dr. I went, my leg wasn't really swollen, the skin felt tight and it looked like I got a sunburn, as I did sit in the sun for maybe five mins, Dr. confirmed that it was and gave me antibiotics, for ten days, I had to keep leg elevated throughout the day, after a week I was all better, but if I had waited and didn't go, thinking it was only a sunburn, it could have been much worse, so as I was recovering, I had a break down, anxiety got the better of me and I didn't want to get out of bed for almost two weeks, during that time I couldn't really eat or sleep, I lost ten pounds in one week, I went from 338 to 328. I am now better and have to wear compression stockings, I am supposed to be resting this week as I had a break down like I said, just not to long ago, I am only on the computer long enough to update this blog.  Depression, anxiety and panic and health anxiety are no fun and I feel for those that struggle with it as well.  So if you get a flea bite, bee or wasp sting, cat bite, cat scratch, dog bite, human bite, any cut, you are at risk for cellulitis, do not scratch the area with your nails, clean out wound promptly with soap and water and use an anti bacterial cream or tea tree oil around the wound, and bandage it, to prevent getting cellulitis, if you want to know how bad it can get or more about it, look it up.

Dr. Google/one Day At A Time.

Merry meet all. How are you today?  Today I am wanting to talk about Dr. Google, oh yes I am sure you are all familiar with him/her, you find something odd with your body, a strange lump or rash or you have a certain symptom, and you rush to the computer and you type in lump, or rash, or diarrhea, or coughing but no cold, and you suddenly see, symptom of this and this and this, and you google more and suddenly, you are like that's it I am dying, I have cancer, or it's a heart attack or any number of deadly illnesses, then you start to stress and you keep checking and you keep poking and you keep prodding, and your panic gets so sky high that you actually make yourself  sick from worrying.  I do this a lot and I found out it's called Health Anxiety, I have been pretty healthy my whole life, other than being over weight, I haven't had any major sickness since I have been here in San Diego, I used to get sick a lot where I used to live, sinus infections, flu (the kind where you are going out both ends), sore throat, bronchitis.  I used to not worry and google my symptoms at all, I was like okay if this doesn't get better in a week or two weeks I'll  go get it checked, by the way, I hate going to the doctor, I avoid it.  Oh I have a lump somewhere on my body, could be a fat pocket or a bump or a inflamed muscle or a knot, if it gets bigger or I start having other symptoms I'll get it checked, that was the old me.  Ever since I had my first panic attack, it seems now every little sharp pain under my left breast or down my left side, I run and make an appointment with Dr. Google and look up what it could be, then I get freaked out thinking it's a heart attack or cancer, I have a lump small about 1/8 inch on my back near a fat roll, I can't remember if I had it for years, but I feel like I have, and just discovered it again, I freaked myself out thinking it's cancer thanks to Dr. Google, but I have gone through the check list in my head, I don't have any symptoms at all, and you would think with a lump that can be felt like that I would have some form of symptoms, such as night sweats, fatigue, fever, pain, rapid weight loss, etc, I know you are saying but some people don't even know until they go and the doctor is like oh well you have six months to live, but I bet there was some clue there, you can't have cancer and not have symptoms. Anyway what I am saying is, health anxiety is real and it's a mental illness, and it is exhausting, my goal is to try not to make an appointment with Dr. Google and do the wait and see.  Take it one day at a time, get back to how I used to be. Take it one day at a time, oh and Dr. Google Can't see you now.   On a more positive note, I have lost two pounds since last month, I am now down 42 pounds in a year.

Weight Loss/Panic Attacks/Oh My

Merry Meet All, I don't know how much longer I can deal with these panic attacks and anxiety.  I swear I always feel like I am having a heart attack and that makes me panic more.  The chest pains, the not being able to breathe, feeling like the walls are closing in , shaking, feeling like I am going to die,and I keep thinking OMG is this it? Am I really having a heart attack this time? I get so fucking tired of these, I am thinking I should be done with this shit now, I have been going to therapy since 2012, it's been six years almost.  I am worried about every little thing now about my health, I know I am overweight and I am working on that, I am at 346, I may have gained a couple of pounds due to aunt flo coming on , I normally do, so today the scale said 345 then when I moved it jumped to 348, I will weigh tomorrow and see.  I really want to get to my goal weight of at least 140 pounds.  I was wearing a size 32, I almost got into a 26, I couldn't get them past my butt and over my tummy bulge, but I got them on, I am guessing another ten or twenty pounds.  I am sitting here listening to In The Air Tonight, by Phil Collins, that song for some reason is so haunting.  I also noticed that when I start bleeding from either a cut or a scratch or something, I panic more thinking I am not going to stop bleeding or that I am going to bleed to death, I am not sure why I started doing this, I never have before, nor did I ever worry this much about my health. So I am getting there with the weight loss but still dealing with the panic attacks.  I also need to work on my
PTSD, OCD, Anxiety, Social Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia, Bi Polar 1 disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder, and my Panic Attacks.
Do any of you have these, if so how do you get through them on a daily basis? Please leave me a comment below.

Candle Colors and Meanings

Hello and Merry Meet Y'all, today I will be posting about Candle Colors and their meanings.  I really haven't done much with candle magick but am going to start learning. I did find this handy guide online about the different colors and their meanings.  Is it just me or do we tend to go through a lot of candles when doing a ritual or spell?  Seems we should buy stock in candle companies. :), Have any of you done any kind of candle magick? If so did it work? Please leave a comment.  For me I find candle light in a dark room just beautiful, I never knew, before walking the Path and doing the Craft, that candle colors had certain meanings and intentions, I just lit them and didn't think anything about it, even when blowing out birthday candles we are doing a ritual, we make a wish, send up the wish in thought and then blow out the candle and hope it comes true.  I will be having a birthday in a couple of days and I think I will focus on the candle colors on my cake and actually send up an intention for the year. I got curious and wanted to know what each color was used for and their meaning, so I googled and found this
Black A strong, banishing color, black is associated with transition and rest. Burn a black candle to absorb negativity, break a bad habit, or mark the end of a phase in your life.  Many protective spells include a black candle.

Red

Red is the color of sex, love, power and vitality.  A red candle draws these qualities to you, and aids you in any spellwork that requires strong, fiery energy.  A red candle is often used in conjunction with black—burn the black candle first to banish negativity, then the red candle to draw in fresh energy.  (So-called "dual action" or "reversible" candles combine red and black into one candle.)

Blue

Blue helps you call upon the peace and patience of the element of Water. Blue carries a gentle, but powerful energy. Choose a blue candle for spells involving emotional healing, truth and justice. A very spiritual color, blue can help awaken and heal the psychic mind.

Yellow

Yellow is associated with the element of Air and the powers of the mind.  Burn a yellow candle for success in school or the arts, or to enhance communication in a relationship. Yellow also increases focus and intuition. Yellow is a great choice for business spells, especially when you need fresh ideas and inspiration.

Green

Traditionally the color of money magick, green symbolizes growth in every sense. A green candle attracts abundance and earthly well-being. Use for prosperity, health, and workings involving Nature. Green is also a popular choice for luck-drawing spells.

Orange

The vibrant hue of orange evokes ambition and creativity.  Orange candles are well-suited for career workings, or any other time you need to assert your strength and individuality.
Purple

The color of mystery and magic, purple is associated with psychic matters.  Use a purple candle for divination, astral travel, and to strengthen your connection with the unseen realms. Historically the color of royalty, purple is also suitable for magick related to wishes, ambition, power and authority.
Pink

Pink is the color of emotional well-being, sensuality, and matters of the heart.  Choose a pink candle when you wish to grow in compassion and self-love, or attract the love of others. Forgiveness and reconciliation spells also call for gentle pink.

Grey

Resting halfway between white and black, grey is the color of neutrality and balance. A grey candle may be used in protective magick, when you wish to neutralize negative energy that may be directed at you.  Also used to gain discernment and wisdom.

Light Blue

The calming, cleansing energy of light blue is used for spells of healing, and also to dispel anger. Light blue invokes the soothing qualities of the element of Water without its deeper, more dangerous properties. The color of unclouded daylight, light blue is also good for truth-seeking.
Turquoise
Turquoise is a greenish tint of blue. It is the color of the famous desert gem, or the Caribbean sea. Turquoise shares many of the calming, healing qualities of light blue. Turquoise also stimulates creativity and the spirit of exploration. Sea-blue candles are sometimes used to connect with Undines and water Fae.

Lavender

Lavender combines the innocence of white with the spirituality and passion of purple. Lavender candles are used for spells of love, intimacy and friendship, as well as wishes of all kinds.

Ivory

Similar in meaning to white, but with a tinge of earthy brown. Ivory is good for Full Moon workings, initiations, or any time you want an alternative to bright white.  Because it corresponds to precious things like ivory, pearl, and cream, this color is also used to attract luxury and abundance.

Light Green

Light Green is used to invoke the lighter qualities of the Earth element—good luck, prosperity, and celebration. Light green is a good choice for Faery workings and rites of Springtime.
Magenta
Magenta, dark pink, and hot pink candles take the loving energy of pink and kick it up a notch! While pink candles draw compassion and tenderness, stronger pinks are all about the passion. Use a dark pink candle for spells of sexuality, sexual confidence, and flirtation. Dark pink candles are used to attract a lover (especially a female lover).

Brown

Brown is a strongly grounding, Earthy color. It aids in emotional stability, balance, and building trust. Some Witches also use brown for manifestation magic and connecting with the realm of animals.
Burgundy
Half-way between the two colors, burgundy tempers the passion of red with the practicality of brown. Use burgundy for magick related to determination, strength, and personal power. Burgundy resonates with the blood and helps in grounding and bringing your passions to fruition.
Silver
Silver is associated with the Moon, psychic receptivity, dreaming, love, rest and healing. On a Wiccan altar, a silver candle is often used to represent the Goddess.

Gold

Gold corresponds with the Sun, wealth, confidence, willpower, generosity and optimism. A gold candle may be used to represent the God. A grey or white candle may be substituted for silver, but there is really no substitute for the eye-catching gleam of gold!
White contains all colours. It symbolises purity and innocence, and the Maiden aspect of the Triple Goddess. Use for purification, peace, healing, truth and sincerity, cleansing, spirituality, clarity, wholeness and joy. It can also protect, repel negative energy, relieve tension and aid in meditation. Yellow is the realm of intellect, inspiration and creativity. Use for confidence and charm, persuasion, wisdom, mental strength, concentration, communication, memory, logic and learning. It stimulates your personal power and self-esteem, and promotes cheerfulness and an optimistic outlook. Use it to invoke or represent the element of Air. Orange is energising and promotes stimulation, joy and success. Use for good fortune, prosperity, power, action, energy building, and courage. Aids in legal matters, achieving goals, cleansing negative attitudes and bringing in happiness and enthusiasm. Also used for attracting friends and inspires emotional healing. Pink represents all variations of love – friendly, romantic, spiritual, and universal. Use for love magick, compassion, forgiveness, joy, harmony, sensitivity, emotional and spiritual healing, and self-love. Promotes spiritual awakening and opening of the heart. Red is the colour of fire and passion. It represents activity and action, blood, love, sex, fertility, potency, power, vitality, and courage. It instils energy and strength and can thus be used for health, vigour and defence. It also symbolises the Mother aspect of the Triple Goddess. Use it to invoke or represent the element of Fire. Purple is a highly spiritual colour and is associated with psychic abilities, spiritual awakening, and ancient wisdom. It is the colour of the third eye chakra where your psychic vision and inner eye reside, so purple can be used to open your third eye in order to invite visions and enhance intuition. Use also for spiritual protection, healing, respect, honour, wisdom, purification, sensitivity, progress, spiritual growth and dissociating from the ego. Meditate regularly with a purple candle to reduce stress or insomnia. Magenta is used to facilitate quick changes and fast results in spell work. Burn with another candle to increase the energy of that candle’s purpose and intent. Also used for exorcism and spiritual healing. Blue is a soothing colour and is connected to spirituality, inner peace, and harmony. Promotes wisdom, truth, tranquillity, rest, healing, serenity, patience and kindness. Burned for dream magick and prophetic dreams. Encourages loyalty, understanding, and a peaceful home. Use it to invoke or represent the element of Water. Meditate with a blue candle to help focus your mind. Turquoise is used for stress relief, focus and intellect. Aids in storing knowledge, improving memory, and finding logic in any situation. Green is associated with nature, growth, and fertility, and is a symbol of the Goddess and her green earth. It is also a colour often linked to money and financial success. Use for luck and prosperity, abundance and generosity, earth magick, physical and emotional healing, rejuvenation, and renewal. Assists agriculture to encourage a good harvest. Use it to invoke or represent the element of Earth. Brown is the colour of earth, and holds a grounded, balanced vibration. Assists in clear thinking and decision-making. Promotes concentration, intuition, material gain, wealth, common sense, and stability. Also encourages intuition and telepathic abilities. It is said to help locate lost objects. Also used to protect and heal animals. Silver (or grey) is a neutral colour and can be used to deflect and neutralise negative influences. It brings protection against otherworldly entities, stabilises energies, and promotes inner peace and serenity. Also a symbol of the Goddess, and can be used to invoke any female deity. Gold is associated with the God and solar deities. It is believed to attract the powers of cosmic influences. Encourages success, wealth, communication, persuasion, victory, masculine energy, and confidence. Use when invoking any male deity. Black absorbs all colours, and is often used to absorb or banish negativity. It reverses curses and hexes. Use for protection, banishing, repelling black magick, and ridding of bad habits. It enhances inner strength, resilience and self-control, and can be used in meditation to delve deeper into the unconscious. Also burned for powerful healing and support through loss and grief. Hecate Goddess of Witches

The Queen Goddess, the crone aspect of the Mother, Maiden and Crone. She is a protector goddess which upholds the laws of the universe
She is the Goddess of beginnings as well as endings, and all transformations from one state to another. She is the Goddess of the Gateway between the worlds, present when we come into this life as well as when we leave it. And though She is implacable, She is not without mercy, generosity, and tenderness of heart.
Hecate is the Reaper, the Goddess of Death -- the inexorable tides of time, the pitiless Mother who takes Her children back into Herself. (There must always be the death of the old, in order for the new to be born, and She clears the way). The Crescent Moon is Her sickle -- the hand-held arc of a knife that was used for harvest. Yes, there is death here, but as always in Nature, the death is in service to life.
She guides souls into birth, and back into the soul's True Home at death.
Her power is also healing, for as Mother of All, Her compassion is boundless. She holds, and shares, the knowledge of all healing modalities and the uses of plants.
She is the Keeper of the Mysteries.Goddess of the Moon.

By: StormPheonix

Oh great mother, Listen to the woes of your Daughter.  I need your Guidance and your Wisdom.  Shine your blessed light down on me and guide my path. Walk with me as I learn your mysteries. Help me if I stumble and I will be strong.  Bless the ones I love, my family, my friends, and my sisters.  As I honor you, bless them with your love and light sweet mother. Help me let go of fear and the pain of my past, to move forward with your truth, guide and bless my Spirit which I dedicate to you with all my heart. Thank you mother Danu, Blessed Be
